Our shelter services the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas on a first come first serve basis to needy women with/without children. There is never a time the Guest house is empty because of the high demand. We are happy to serve in that capacity.

Hameeda Abdullah Educational Scholarship Fund( Deadline May 21,2021)
Hameeda Abdullah Education Fund scholarship was established by Mubarak and Ali Abdullah in honor of their late mother, Hameeda Abdullah. It was first awarded in 1990 and has had many Muslim recipients. It is the only scholarship of its kind in the Pittsburgh region and we are honored and humbled to be able to award it again this year. The money for the first award came from a closed bank account from the mosque that was established in Braddock in the early 1900’s and the personal donations of Mubarak and Ali Abdullah. The Muslim Women's Association Program (MWAP) has been designated as the managers of the scholarship stipend. MWAP were charged with establishing the criteria, evaluating applicants, selecting a winner and awarding the stipend annually.

After the Abdullah brothers returned to Allah, the MWAP continues to maintain the scholarship stipend and have raised monies to ensure it continuance. This $500 scholarship is based on academic merit, financial need, and community service to students enrolling in an undergraduate program, two-year associate’s program, or certificate program.
